The picturesque mountain village of Berwang nestles in a soft plateau in the Tirolean Zugspitz area. The Zugspitze, Germany’s most famous Alpine summit, is located just opposite the village.
The nature here is unique. Hike up glaciers, take relaxing walks through the soft meadows, enjoy panoramic walks or look down on the valley from a cable car – the region offers something for everybody!
FASCINATION ZUGSPITZE
This fascinating mountain offers one of the Alp’s most spectacular views. On an altitude of
2.962 m you will be able to look down on 4 different countries!
On the summit, you will be able to enjoy an exhibition offering video and audiovisual performances.

HIKING ROUTES
There are more than 90 hiking routes and climbing trails leading up to the summits of the Wetterstein and Ammergebirge mountain ranges, the Lechtal Alps, Mieminger Kette mountain chain and Zugspitze.
BERWANG HIKING PROGRAM
Our mountain guides Andreas and Gerd offer a wide range of hikes from mid-June to the end of September, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: sunrise tours, sunset tours, bird tours, musical hikes, remembrance tours and moonlight hikes

MOUNTAIN BIKING
The Zugspitz area offers more than 100 cycling trails. Austria’s Mountain Bike Magazine has twice elected the region Austria’s foremost mountain bike area.
Down in the valley there are also many possible relaxing walks, such as the water walks aroung Heiterwanger See, Plansee and Fernsteinsee.
Mountain bikes can be rented locally. Guided tours are offered from mid-May to mid-October..
NOTE: Free mountain bike transport on all Zugspitz cable cars in the summer season!
